Lightman and the mermaids

The search for the third tebris continued for several months without any success. Lightman's armor had withstood the tumultuous tropical storms, the scorching suns of the Sahara, and the powerful northern winds. After many months of searching, his starry cloak had deteriorated to the point of giving way, causing Lightman to suddenly fall into the North Sea, where the mermaids came to his rescue and brought him ashore.
Once recovered from his fall, Lightman asked the mermaids for directions regarding the tebris. The mermaids, for their part, had heard tales of a dark object found in their lands, but they could not say exactly where it was located. However, they knew how to assist the hero in his quest: "Objects made of primordial light and darkness were generated from a cosmic split, and therefore they must respond to the signals of the universe. We can teach you this language, so that you can communicate with the tebris," said the wise chieftain of the mermaids. And so it was. Lightman spent several weeks learning to recognise the signals, the magical numbers, and the synchronicities of the universe and to decipher their meaning.
