The first tebris

The undertaking promised to be difficult. The Tebris had been lost for centuries, and the only knowledge of them came from legends passed down through generations. These legends recounted how indigenous tribes discovered the mysterious objects and hid them, guarding them jealously for a long time. Few people who learned the whereabouts of the Tebris returned alive from their quests; the ancient tribes had set traps and energy fields to keep the Tebris from falling into the wrong hands. The tribes must have understood the dark powers of these objects, and their wisdom had long protected the land from numerous acts of brutality.

Lightman harnessed his cloak's power to detect the tebris's magnetic field; however, it required a long, perilous journey, the duration of which was hard to predict. After several months of searching, the first tebris was discovered in Rio, where ancient Amazonian tribes guarded it. The Amazons had used ancient magic to encircle the tebris with a timeline. This timeline could reveal the past experiences of anyone who crossed it, illuminating both their shadows and their light. Renowned for their ancient wisdom, the Amazons wanted to ensure that whoever came into possession of the tebris was a being of light. They showed Lightman the timeline's location. Still, they warned him, "He who harbours more shadows than light in his past will be disintegrated by the power of the magic circle." Undeterred, Lightman continued toward the timeline and crossed it without hesitation. As he passed through, it shone with a blinding light and dissolved into tiny golden fragments, carried away by the wind. The first tebris was finally his.
